Awareness

You have a responsibility to manage your waste electrical and electronic equipment in an environmentally compliant manner accordingly to “Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 July 2012 on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) ”. Partnering with TWSRecovery you can be aware of you compliance with all the Regulations.

DO YOU KNOW…

What is E-waste (WEEE)?

Electrical and electronic equipment or (EEE) means equipment which is dependent on electric currents or electromagnetic fields in order to work properly and equipment for the generation, transfer and measurement of such currents and fields. Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) means electrical or electronic equipment is e-scrap, including all components, sub-assemblies and consumables which are part of the product at the time of its discarding.

How your E-waste should be stored?

WEEE must be stored in compliance with the technical requirements. An establishment carrying out collection or treatment operations must have impermeable surfaces and weatherproof covering for appropriate areas with the provision of spillage collection facilities and, where appropriate, decanters and cleanser-degreasers for storage (including temporary storage) of WEEE prior to its treatment.

How your E-waste should be collected and treated?

All the collected WEEE should get the proper treatment in order to minimize the disposal in the form of unsorted waste and must be recycled compliantly. Any establishment carrying out treatment operations must have a permit from the competent authorities, stating its compliance with the Regulations. Proper handling should, as a minimum, include the removal of all fluids and a selective treatment for materials and components of waste electrical and electronic equipment. Sites for treatment of WEEE must be compliant with the technical requirements and should have impermeable surfaces and waterproof covering for appropriate areas, equipment for the treatment of water in compliance with health and environmental regulations, specific storage areas and containers for disassembled spare parts, batteries, PCBs/PCTs containing capacitors and other hazardous waste.

How your E-waste should be transported?

The collection and transport of separately collected WEEE should be carried out by an authorized establishment, having a proper permit, in a way which allows optimal conditions for preparing for re-use, recycling and the confinement of hazardous substances. An appropriate protection against damage during transportation, loading and unloading in particular through sufficient packaging and appropriate stacking of the load should be provided.

How do you gain from partnering with an authorized facility?

An authorized asset management company treats your IT equipment in compliance with E-waste Regulations. Such facility operates your data devices as confidential and is able to hold safe Licensed Carry in order to protect the assets against damage. A proven company provides specialized in-house segregation into commodities for recyclables and partners with professional downstream vendors for getting a bigger return for you. Choosing an authorized facility, you can definitely be assured of detailed auditable Reporting and proper Certification services.

How proper Asset Management helps to guarantee your safety?

It is very important to protect your company’s sensitive data properly to prevent theft, illegal use of information or damaging the reputation. Improper treatment may cause serious data exposure and leeks problems, as, for example, it happened when the loss of personal data on a million bank customers were found on a second-hand computer sold in an eBay auction. Authorized facilities always treat your devices as confidential and provide the highest level of security, proposing their reliable solutions for Data Erasure and Destruction accompanied by proper Certification, giving you the confidence you're in compliance with all the regulations.

Appropriate Data Management ensures your sensitive information is not coming back to be recovered and reused, and your legal, financial and strategic interests are protected.
